Milan, Lombardy, Italy
The Province of Milan (Italian: Provincia di Milano; Western Lombard (non-official): Provincia de Milan/Prúncia de Milàn) is a province in the Lombardy region of Italy. Its capital is the city of Milan.
It has an area of 1,984 sq.km, and a total population of 4,472,264 (2007). There are 189 comuni in the province.
The new Monza e Brianza province has been created with part of the province of Milan, and will be effective in 2009. The loss of the new province's component 53 comuni, with a combined population of ca. 750,000 would leave the surviving Province of Milan with an adjusted population of ca. 3,100,000 in its remaining territory.
